Mini Treat: A beauty storage guide

This is Mini Treat, a bite-sized post between treatment reviews where I share musings, favorite products, or beauty news that I find fun and/or relevant.

It should come as no surprise that my bathroom is somewhat of a sacred space—it’s not uncommon to find me locked away in there, indulging in a lengthy, candlelit everything shower, pampering my skin with my latest beauty gadget (I’m loving the ZIIP right now), or listening to Britney Spears’ seminal album “Blackout” while I do my hair and makeup for a night out.

However, I do not live alone; in fact, I live with a complete and total neat freak. So to ensure Dom doesn’t have a nervous breakdown, I try my very best to keep my extensive collection of beauty products as tidy as possible. But whether you’re a beauty journalist or simply passionate about skincare and makeup, finding neat and effective storage for an abundance of products can be a daunting task.

I’ve lived in a few different apartments over the last couple of years, all of which have had uniquely sized bathrooms with varying degrees of counter and/or cabinet space. Because of this, I’ve accumulated a repertoire of organizational strategies that can be applied to all kinds of layouts, no matter how small or oddly shaped the bathroom might be.

So if you’re struggling to find a way to store products in your bathroom, I might just be able to help you.

When I lived here, I was a junior beauty journalist who had a sudden influx of products to test for The Strategist. I was in desperate need of more storage, but since I couldn’t get cabinets or add proper shelving, I instead opted for these adhesive pocket shelves, which peel and stick to your walls. Looking back at this photo, the long glass countertops were chaotic and in need of some organizational help, but these pocket shelves were a total game changer, as they never fell and were super easy to remove when I moved out.
