Omg, you guys. It’s been a whirlwind and I’m so excited to finally be talking about this here on Fun Little Treat. For the past two years, I’ve been quietly working on a project that’s been a longtime dream of mine: creating a skincare product (and being involved in every step of its development!) as well as designing a facial treatment tailored for temperamental skin. I created both the facial and the cleanser with dry, acne-prone skin in mind—a skin type I’ve been screaming from the rooftops about for years. It’s often overlooked, but through my work, writing, and conversations with people around the world, I’ve seen just how common it is, and how hard it can be to find the right products and treatments for it.
This process took a lot of time and love, because I really cared.
So I’m sooooooo excited to be discussing The Buzzworthy Cleanser and The Buzzyworthy Facial, which I created with Face Haus.
A balmy, hydrating, propolis-infused cleanser.
The Buzzworthy Cleanser is a balmy gel infused with propolis, one of my all-time favorite ingredients for dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I’ve written about propolis so much over the years because it’s one of those rare ingredients that gives so much and asks for so little in return, not just for me but for so many others.
If you’re not familiar, propolis is a resin-like substance that bees use to seal their hives. In skincare, it’s incredibly hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial. It helps soothe irritation, calm redness and swelling, and even prevent future breakouts from sprouting up.
This cleanser has a short n’ sweet, purposeful ingredient list. Every component was chosen carefully, and I made sure there’s nothing comedogenic in it. The texture is thick and honey-like, melting beautifully into the skin to remove sunscreen and makeup without ever leaving your face tight or stripped.
I truly love this formula, and I think you’re going to love it too.
The Buzzworthy Cleanser is $32, and I obvi got a discount code for you guys. Use code “RIO25” at checkout for 25% off the whole site. Genuinely cannot wait for you guys to try this.
A facial for temperamental or picked skin.
All those late nights in esthetician school, squeezed in between my book tour and a full-time job, feel like they were leading up to this moment. If you’re in Los Angeles or Dallas, I’m so excited for you to experience The Buzzworthy Facial, a treatment I designed specifically for acne-prone, dry, or inflamed skin. More than anything, I wanted this facial to calm and soothe redness, irritation, and even skin that’s just been freshly picked (I see you. I hear you. I am you!)
Here’s how it works: The facial begins with a cleanse using The Buzzworthy Cleanser, then toning, followed by a thorough skin analysis, and gentle exfoliation. Extractions are totally optional—your call. Next, you’ll choose between a hydrating or purifying charcoal mask, depending on your skin’s needs that day. Then comes the LED and high frequency to reduce bacteria and inflammation, followed by a cooling globe massage to calm everything down. Then some moisturizer and SPF to leave your skin feeling refreshed and balanced.

How this all got started
A few years ago, I walked into a facial studio on Montana Avenue in Los Angeles with zero expectations. But Face Haus wasn’t like any facial spot I’d been to. Instead of dim lighting and hushed voices, the space was open and bright with rows of treatment chairs lined up side by side, almost like a nail salon. The clientele was just as unexpected, like teens dealing with their first breakouts, high schoolers prepping for prom, a couple in their forties getting facials together, and a thirty-something guy in for a deep pore cleanse. A sort of surprisingly diverse crowd of different ages and genders. For a studio on such a fancy street, the vibe was mellow, friendly, and completely unpretentious. So when I glanced at the menu and saw that most treatments are around the $150 price range, it all made sense. In a city like LA, where beauty services can be absurdly expensive, the pricing actually felt pretty reasonable.
Also, my facial ruled. It was straight forward, results-driven, and great for my sensitive, acne prone skin. My esthetician (or esty, as they call them :) ) was even able to get out this insanely annoying, stubborn closed comedone that had been lingering under my skin for months. Anyways, even with the open layout, the experience felt calm, not chaotic or crowded. It struck the perfect balance of unfussy and relaxing, like getting expert care without any of the pressure or pretense.
When it comes to skincare, I’ve always tried to write in a way that feels accessible and offer options that meet people where they are, no matter how much they’ve got to spend or their life style. One of the main reasons I became an esthetician was to deepen my understanding of skin beyond just my own, so I could better support a wider range of people. Guys, I dunno, I’m serious when I say I felt like it all led up to this moment! I’m gonna cry lol.
Face Haus is exactly the kind of place I would have loved to have nearby when I was younger, during those times when I was cycling through intense cystic breakouts and skin-picking episodes. Somewhere I could pop in last minute when I was really going through it. Seeing so many young people in the chairs felt genuinely moving. When I first reached out to Face Haus, it was just to say how much I admired what they were doing. I couldn’t believe it when they came back and asked if I wanted to co-create a treatment and product with them.
I’m just so excited about this and so incredibly grateful for all your support. Love ya’ll so bad.
I was planning to try your cleanser anyway, but thank you for the discount code! What a pleasant bonus. 🥰
I’m new here, so this is my first post I’m seeing. How FRICKIN exciting! Congratulations on this release! I’ll def have to try it out :)
