When you book a facial, it's typically because there’s something you’re striving to improve, whether that be skin texture, breakouts, or dullness. Like most people, I get facials because I want to see results, which is why I’ve always leaned towards clinical, medical, or no-frills practices for technologically advanced and thorough treatments. The alternative is more holistic facial spas which, while blissful, haven’t always done as much for my skin (I hate the type of facial that just feels like someone is just layering oils into your skin).

But if there’s one thing those more wellness-y spots have right, it’s the sheer relaxation of the experience: the neck and hand massages, calming music, warm beds, and pretty rooms are the kinds of luxuries you’re not always afforded at a sterile dermatologist office. But let’s be frank, if you’re carving out the time in your busy schedule to fit in a facial, it would be nice to have at least a bit of serenity during the session.

When I inquired about his secret, he couldn't stop raving about a transformative treatment he received at a spa in central London, which effectively evened out his skin tone and minimized hormonal breakouts. Later that day, when I went to investigate the place, their website threw me for a loop. Their menu offered standard clinical facial treatments, such as micro-needling, LED therapy, and microdermabrasion, but, to my surprise, they also offered services like sound healing, reiki, and lymphatic massages. Seriously intrigued by their mission to blend "ancient wisdom with modern science," as stated on their about page, I decided to book a session.
